There’s a new firmware hack out there that removes the enforced time limit on how long you can record video on your Nikon D5100 and D3100 cameras. The time limit is now limited by the physical file size of 4 GB as opposed to a generic max of 20 minutes. I’ve tested with a 640×480 and recorded about an hour before my battery died without an real recourse.
My 1920×1080@24 fps high quality records about 24 minutes before shutting down.

This is the first practical step in the monumental task of coming up with a Nikon equivalent to the Magic Lantern firmware Canon users have had access to for a while now.
I Love it!
